What is the School Meals Programme?

The School Meals Programme funds food services in schools through two schemes: the Urban School Meals Scheme, operated by local authorities for primary schools and co-financed by the Department of Social Protection, and the School Meals Local Projects Scheme, which directly funds primary and secondary schools and local groups. 

Funding is solely for nutritious food prepared and consumed in a suitable environment, with the specific meal types and logistics decided by the individual schools and groups.
