  • Our Past

    In 1905, at the age of twenty, our founder Paddy O'Sullivan was working as a grocery boy and his boss had promised one day that he could leave the store early to attend a wedding.

    Always a conscientious worker, he had come in early to get as much work completed as possible. However, at the appointed hour he was told he could not leave. Choosing to leave anyway and finding himself unemployed, he began to traverse the city of Cork endeavouring to develop his own wholesale and delivery service. Over time he built up credibility and a steady trade. Months later he saw a shop with a to let sign in the window on Princes Street and established a wholesale base from which to work from. In 1939, fuelled by continuing growth, the company bought the premises of the Victoria Palace Dance Hall at Victoria Cross to expand storage. In 1985 an adjacent site was purchased, trebling the amount of warehouse space. Having again outgrown its current capacity, the company moved to its current location in 1999, a 45,000sq ft. state of the art warehouse in Wilton, Cork.

    M&P O'Sullivan is a successful, Irish-owned and entrepreneurial company, which has changed and expanded with the times. Now a fourth generation family business, we continue to expand on the foresight shown by our founders. The company takes pride in its level of personal service and this continues to be a central aspect of the business.
    The company is extremely strong in both Retail & Foodservice activities. Our customers are food service operations such as restaurants and fast food outlets, as well as organizations like schools, universities, and hospitals. Through our retail franchise Gala, we provide stores with a one stop shop solution for all of their buying needs. We also have significant buying power allowing us to successfully serve the independent retail market. We continually strive to be the best at what we do and this is shown through our achieving of Gold Standard awards, every year since 2010, at the annual Stonehouse Awards ceremony. In more than 110 years M&P O'Sullivan has seen many changes in the industry but by keeping the firm family values of exceptional products delivered with outstanding service, we continue to grow and maintain our place as the best choice for every clients needs.

  • 100 Years Celebration

    In the year 2005, M.&P. O'Sullivan Ltd. celebrated one hundred years in business, a significant milestone in the company's history.
